There are 46 known species of Barn Owls in the world. Their totally dark eyes indicate they are night hunters. Like most owls they have excellent eyesight and have the ability to hunt in total darkness using only their hearing. For the European species, the southern located owls have a darker color than the northern located barn owl sorts. Barn owls in the wild can reach the age of fifteen years. Their nests are made from regurgitates pellets.
